Window Rubber Seals - Which to get and how to fit them

Post by cal »

Hi guys, I have started up this post in order to try get all the info in one place. I have also tried to find info (Via forum search) on which seals I need to buy but had no luck :(

Okay, ... I need to replace my driver and passenger window seals (and while I am at it, I may aswell do the rest?).

I have found this site: http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.a ... rtmentId=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does anyone know of what seals I need for each window and also how I can fit them? ... If we can get all the info on this single page it should save everyone time in the future.

Also, if anyone knows better places to get the seals from, info on that would also be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks in Advance,

Cal :ok

Okay that'll be wicked, cheers! ... what do you need pics of the camper so you know exact model etc. or directly of the seals? ... I'll tell you what, if I take some pics of all the seals, could you perhaps inform me of which ones I need to get?

Cheers!!

I just ordered a tailgate seal + rear and middle side windows seals from gunzl classic parts, with postage + 4% for paypal payment, they still worked out about £30 cheaper than anywhere I could find in the uk. That's for factory fitted windows though.

Okay wicked, cheers for that! Sounds like a brilliant price, I have been recommended them by someone else aswell and they said there communication and customer service was A* aswell - perhaps they're the ones to go for!!? Yeah they'll be for factory fitted windows.

Which T25 did you purchase them for?

Cheers again,

Cal

The current exchange rate helps a bit, + might get better for purchasing from gunzl.

Seals are for an 81 Joker, I just need to work out how to fit them now. Advice in the wiki seems to be to pay someone else to do it, but at £35 a window (as I've been quoted), I think I'll at least have a pop first.

Okay brilliant, cheers .... What do you think of these sites aswell? ... Did you compare any of them?;

One of each of items 4 & 5 per door at

http://www.kaefer-co.de/index.php?view=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... size=large

items 6 and 9 complete the set all round then (for vehicles without chrome strips around the windows)

Just Kampers

I'd imagine emporium may be the place to get your cab window seals, gunzl doesn't seem to do them. In fairness I might not have done so much searching, and only compared a few prices from sites I already knew of. I don't have a clue about that kaefer site, google translate + currency converter + patience will probably help. Whatever the items total, it's likely you'll pay 21.90 Euros for p+p from germany.

I don't bother checking Just Kampers any more to be honest. Status vw is another you might want to try, but gunzl did them on price too.

Okay wicked, cheers, Gunzl sounds like the most promising then ... can't be dealing with all that translate malarky!! haha ... little confussed on what I need in terms of driver and passenger door seals ... what are these scraper things I keep coming across with Outer left and inner right etc? ... are they the seals?

Cheers,

yeah, you'll need scrapers, they're the bits at the bottom of your cab window, you might get away with two if your inner scrapers are fairly tidy. I think you'd benefit from having a look at some exploded views showing these items on vw heritage or Just kampers. That might help give you an idea of what's what. Gunzl doesn't do cab seals, so somewhere like emporium may be best for those.

As Mike said (metalmickey), let him know which ones you want, you may be surprised at how much he can get them for you for......
