AAZ Alternator options

Post by B.J »

Hi,
I 'm after a more powerful alternator for my AAZ which currently sports a bosch 70a. I've seen 90a ones but I have a Sterling battery charger rated at 130amps. Be a shame not to take full advantage of it.
Does anyone know of higher rated alternators that would work with the AAZ? Perhaps something like this for a TDI? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A229-VW-Passa ... 563cb78714" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers.

why...? is your battery going flat a lot? bigger alt will sap more power and mpg and will most likely be unessarsary..

It's so I can take full advantage of my Sterling battery charger which will charge at 140A if you have the alternator for it. I would be able to charge my leisure's up quicker.
I'm in no hurry to do it. I'll have a test run this summer and see if it's needed.

That link you have posted looks similar to the one I have put on mine accept my one is 150A. Bit of faffing around to fit it but took about 2 hours of making bits and head scratching. Doesnt need much to make it work, I made a tensioner etc and it works well.

I have a very large stereo and since Ive done the alternator the bass is so much louder, it has melted the plastic on the fuses on the amp as its supplying so much more current!
