Spotted in the samba "hall of shame"...
Does anyone know who's responsible for this effort? The work involved! The worrying thing is that I quite like the direction the front end has taken on this one...but that's about all. Horrid sides, shorty wheel base and wish it was in a nicer colour scheme though!

OK so it's flippin' grim with the armoured-car windows and dysentry colour scheme, but that brutal front end...Tonkatastic!
Time for my next dose of medication?...maybe it's just the poly varnish fumes
Here's some more, get you buckets to hand http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=432802" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

it was on ebay a couple of years ago , has what looks like a crew cab side door and appears to be shortened!

That thread's slightly addictive, if only in a car-crash gawping kind of way.

This one's kind of curious. The front profile, from this angle, almost looks convincing as a (fictional) actual VW design / late model facelift. Looks too tidy to be totally homebrew... has something else been grafted on there, something Japanese perhaps?

Re: Spotted in the samba "hall of shame"...
Yeah I was thinking that, looks like a Hiace or something. There is just too much about this to say its another manufacturers vehicle with a VW roundel on it (off centre!) The curve above the headlight is just wrong. It would be too much (pointless) work to make this from a T3....surely. Got to be Japanese is my bet.
list goes on headlights, door handles, mirrors
top half Hiace grafted onto a doka... oh I dont know.
this is a bit more telling

Those are definitely T3 doors (look at the swage line and the door shut around the fuel filler) and windows are definitely doka, the mirror arms are 16" syncro but the shells may have been changed.
This may have been the product of years of work and evolution. A mountain of work whichever way you look at it!
