Oil dipstick tube

Post by nevill3 »

Hi I have a 1.6 na diesel and it has developed a leak where the diptstick tube enters the case.....I have had a look at my Bentley manual and cannot find any instructions on how to remove it. Is it a case of just pulling it out or do I need to twist it first or unscrew it. any pointers greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nev

Thanks for that any more sugestionn greatly accepted if any different, it's just taken me a couple of hours to get her started after her winter lay-up....lots of clicking but no brrrrrrrmmmmmmmm!

I cleaned the gerabox earthstrap and checked the starter motor connection.....a set of jump leads and a tighten up of the little push on connector on the starter and off she went...eventually

Usually you have to drift them out from underneath - wait til you have the sump off for some reason. Mine didn't have an o-ring and was a barsteward to put back in. (I was changing engine blocks and it was on an engine stand and it still wouldn't go fully home). No leaks though without an o-ring.

Well I unbolted the bracket that also holds on the alternator, and the dipstick tube just lifted out......Now I just need to replace the washer and o ring to re-assemble.....I hope it cures the leak!!!
