1.9 T25 autosleeper won't start

Hi, I am new to owning a T25 and also new to this site. I have a 1990 T25 1.9 (DG) autosleeper trident and we have been having loads of problems with it. Firstly, it started to cut out at low revs, once the clutch was pressed. It was fine while on automatic choke but once that came off the engine died. We called the RAC who cleaned the carb and played around with the mixture. He also tightened the throttle cable which appeared loose. This seemed to help but then within a mile or so we had the same problem.
I have trawled the club 80-90 forum (which is fab for info) and we have looked at the usual faults, air leaks, fuel pump/filter, earth straps etc. we changed the ignition coil and ht leads and the engine started OK, then it died and now it won't even start. We are getting no spark to the spark plugs (which are blackened slightly). Our next move was to change the ignition amplifier which my Dad has just put in and still nothing. We are running out of ideas and don't know what to do next.

Can anybody help us??

We have recently installed a new starter motor (from GSF) and when I bought the van about 12months ago we changed the oil,oil filter,air filter, spark plugs, gear box oil and had electric ignition and new dizzy/rotor arm installed.

I love my van but this is getting silly although Brickwerks are doing well from it

first of all you need a spark
so is there a spark from the king lead?

is there fuel being pumped into the carb?

if you answer yes to these we'll go from there

Before the ignition side of things went haywire we were getting a spark becasue the engine would fire but cut out after a while (once the choke had come off). My dad took the fuel pipe off the carb and put it in a jar and fuel pumped out, no problem.

Now we are not getting a spark to the king lead which is why we thought it was ignition coil/ignition amplifier, both of which we have changed for new (coil from GSF, ignition module from Brickwerks). We thought that maybe the ignition amplifier was on its way out initially and now that we have no spark at all, it has gone completely.

That doesn't appear to be the case.

Check the back of the ignition switch. I seem to remember hearing faults like this and it turned out to be a faulty switch.

Do a system restore ... go back to what was working the last time it was running .... check for loose wires, check for a plug out on the distributor.
