taut/ creaky accelerator pedal

Post by Choppski »

Hi guys,

Need some advice.

Over the bank holiday went out for a well earned camping break in the the Peak district and noticed that the accelerator pedal felt a little stiff and made a creaky sound like the cable/ pedal was very taut and under a lot of tension. So i stopped the engine and tried the pedal i t felt smooth and returned with each depression with no issue what so ever. When i restarted the engine, even at idle, the tension came back.....i sprayed a little WD40 down the hole in the floor for the pedal and it eases a little but not much. I decided to drive on and got to the camp site.

Next morning the issue had eased a little more but is still there when the engine runs, but not when turned off.

Any ideas what this could be and should i be worried?

Engine is 2.0 CU and i do not know when the accelerator cable was replaced. i have greased up the throttle linkage arm and connections to the carb.

Thanks
