Car horn power source

Post by vroombang »

Hi all

I was reading the wiki on how to install a car horn https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/VW ... r_new_horn" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and i am fairly confident it should be straight forward enough. The only question i have is the power source coming off leg 86 on the relay the battery as well or is it going to be another independent source and if so what and where?

Thanks for any help

Well, if you're running out of fuses, just add another fusebox. Not a major job. I added a further 6 fuses for stuff like this. Otherwise you could fiond a suitable spot and fit an inline one but make sure the cable is man enough for whatever the horn draws.

If you can use your existing horn's wiring to accomplish the same thing. Just put the relay under the bumper and wire accordingly.

I have a 10A fuse in place so i assume 17A would be enough. The drawing from "Timwhy" above pretty much explains it have your battery coming into terminals 86 and 30 on the relay and put your fuse along that connection somewhere and away you go i would think
