Khyam or JustKamper's sun canopy

Post by pfield69 »

I'm looking for a cheap sun/ shower canopy for the side of my van.

I have found 2 contenders, Khyam & just kampers.

Khyam is a good brand and I get this new for £49 inc P&P.

Just Kampers looks a better design (if the picture is true) with a domed profile so water cant gather. These appear to only be available 2nd hand and no longer available from Just Kampers which suggests they are not as good as they look.

Does anyone have either of the brands and what are your thoughts on them

Thanks

As I am impatient and there has been no response I will decide on the JK canopy.

Obviously a Fiamia would be better but I'm not paying of the Italian deficit by buying one of their overpriced contraptions

I bought some material and was going to have a bash at making my own, but am now unsure about the fixings. I want it flush to the van, but don't like the figure of eight strips as they rip the gutter trim off :x

now there was a post on here last year about this.

Someone suggested a Coleman Tent awning which has worked well for us and was just £25 then but seems to be about £33 now:

it cane with a zip but I had to sew a piece of awning connector strip so I could use the fig of 8 stuff like this:

Also it is definitely 100% waterproof... remember the week when dorset and devon were hit by flash floods.. we were camping :ok

I think all of you that are looking for sun canopies are being commendably optimistic :run

I am looking for a waterproof and windproof, fully enclosed item

LOL ghost, my logic is there can't be much more rain left in the sky.

I have a fully enclosed awning already but only use this for longer stays. After Big Drip this year, I just want a bit of cover by my door.

Khyam or JustKamper's sun canopy

Post by Andrew Evers »

I got the Colman last year. Think it's just a canopy for their tents. The zip fitted great to my figure of 8. I would recommend it. Cheap, easy to put up and waterproof.

I have Just Kampers Sun Canopy.
To be honest not that impressed. Every time there is a gust of wind the the flexible poles bow inwards. Great idea for collecting the rain water!!! The poles seem to come out in relatively low winds and bash against the side of the van, no fun trying to rectify at 2am in your boxer shorts.
I have found a quick fix, by attaching a centre pole which seems to help a bit.
I am now reluctant to use it as it's a bit of a pain the a*** to be honest!
Not sure how the others compare to this
