Maybe time to dust off the XC bike and get fit again? Hope the moths haven't eaten all my lycra

But then I'll have to park the bus somewhere and that will leave me worried for the whole ride...

We went out today to the Surrey hills to do some lanes. The ones that had been closed are now open!

Very muddy but a great day out in the rain. Beats sitting on the sofa in front of the telly.

Still some great lane out there, Ride lane, Pond Lane etc.

Great to hear Tom :ok

Was the wet one that drops down into Shire open and the galvanized gate gone?

We headed for some impromptu wild camping and it was a tad wet out on the lanes for us too,

It was only for the one night as unfortunately I have so much work on of late that I had to go in today to help push things on for the other trades I have in on a big job I am running at the moment. Pays for the trips though I guess

I have never done the Devon Lanes but our mate Ollie did on one of CJ's weekends and he said the Surrey lanes are quite similar (over grown in the summer and high banked), could you imagine if you drove down what was once a respectable lane and rather than leaning all over the place you drove through it with an open can of coke in a cup holder without spilling any :(

I am not sure what I think about all this. There is always Wales though :|

Well at least you we don't have to take off your roof racks to negotiate the Doka out of the overgrown lanes and Jake might not have to bash his face with his snorkel-top in order to get the van out of the lane bush anymore...(I believe there is a good picture of this lane/incident somewhere on the forum)... :P
Is that lane leveled out too?

You are talking about Ride lane.

It's still good. The only one I know that has been levelled is the one at Coldharbour. Some of the ruts have been filled with bricks and the small section at the end is now pretty much Tarmac.

The gates on some are closed during the winter and open again for
May the 1st.

The two behind Bookham have been leveled too. There is now a copper on a trails bike that patrols the lanes on Sunday now too, I had a chat with him.

I've not driven those before.

It's good that the police are patrolling the lanes. I have nothing against motorcyclists, I been riding on and off road for 20 years. But again yesterday it was the motorcyclists that weren't slowing down and giving way to walkers. There was a lady trying to put her do on the lead but they tore past sending the dog into a frenzy. She actually thanked us for Pulling to one side and stopping whilst she got her dog under control.

Last year we were driving the Coldharbour lane and we nearly had a head on with a motorbike going to fast around a blind corner.

Yeah, should pop a round token in the window and drive it somewhere really...ruddy SA has taken up a lot of time getting the wiring sorted. I do at least have a 2.1 lined up for the syncro.

Well, it's in a wheel barrow in the middle of the garage
