There is a good chance I we may be driving up to the Artic Circle this summer for our 4 weeks holiday and one thing will be 100%, my bull bars will be fitted for the trip.

Will you be headed here Jed? If so, pop in for a coffee mate, or a beer. We are around 400 clicks south of The Arctic Circle. Oh and yes, you will need your Bull Bars here, as the further North you go, the more chance on hitting a Moose, or Bear.
And if you come via southern part of Finland, here is lots of us syncro-guys in the Helsinki area to hang out Welcome

At least here in Europe there is at least two kinds of genuine MB ML wheels, only difference is ET and the 7J vs 8J. I had a set of the wider ones (8J) and they had totally wrong ET, something like 50+, so you need spacers to fit those. I tested them on 14" and 16" syncros and no way to get them in.
On my 16" I have 7x16 ET35 Pentas with 245/75-16 GoodYear Wrangler MTR tires, they are good for on and off-road.

Its 8mm.
They double up to hold my bull bars that I intend on using on our trip to the Artic Circle this summer and as I have been planning a route this week I thought I would get i the mood by doing something pro active to the Westy. Its a quick system to allow the bull bars (or kiddy killers to those who only drive in GB and Ireland) to be taken off or put back on in 5 minutes. When the bars are off the mounts will be used as safe towing points and when the bars are on I can use those with a towing point welded low down.
The bull bars are off again at the moment and we are away this weekend so I might get Jake to tow me around abit to see what its like.
They do look cool mounted on the front of your vehicle and great for pulling mates out of the mire but how about getting yourself out? How often do you reverse into a ditch so that you can winch yourself out forwards? Also they can be a tad pricey.
Why not stick a Tirfor somewhere handy- that'll pull you and anybody else from any angle.

You only drive through something you think you can get through, if you fall that little bit short the winch will see you through. The rest of the time its to help your chums out, hey V-lux
I watched Jed winch himself out of a river at Syncropendance. Very cool. Wouldn't have been possible without a tree or something to anchor onto though. He also pulled me out of the mud with his winch after failing to tow me out.
