juddering under load

I'm getting a juddering under load, up steep hills etc.
I notice it most around 30-40mph but haven't worked out if its rev or speed related yet.
I kinda feels like a brake is binding but all brakes ok and freewheels fine.
I read it could be the input shaft bearing if so how hard is it to replace. I want to get on to it early before it destroys anything costly.

Maybe

But the revs stay constant it just pulses. I'm thinking along the lines of
Flat spot on a type (as the van sat for a few years)
Wheel bearing (but I thought is get a rumbling noise)
Cv joint (again no clicking noise)
Output bearing ( I changed the output seals as the were leaking)
Input shaft bearing ( worse case sinerio as I the the whole box needs stripping? )

Cheers for the clutch idea ill have a see if it goes once the cloth is depressed slightly.

Check the fuel filters first as that is the easiest to check and rectify. if you have crud in one that will cause fuel starvation and juddering. For me I changed the filter and job done. Check to make sure you do not have more than one filter.

Also if someone has removed the filter it might be crud in the carburettor jet.

What sort of distributor do you have fitted? I had the insulation crack on a rotor arm once (it should be obvious if this has happened) and that caused the same problem for me. Fitted a new rotor arm and away we went.

Thanks for the advice but its a jx (1.6td) so no dizzy

Juddering is the incorrect way to describe it really more of a pulsating.

From what I could feel this morning in traffic its there in all gears but most noticeable at 20-30Mph uphill in 2nd-3rd

You have made me think about fueling though, I've felt it mainly after the wet weather so I'm going to check me fuel filler pipe to make sure water isn't getting through there

Check your rotor arm they have a sprung limiter built in them thats crap for going

You could try swapping the wheels front to rear just to see if this makes a difference (tyre ovailty/ballance etc) zero cost to elliminate the wheels/tyres as the reason. A long shot I know...

I done a test this morning downhill at about 25mph, put foot on clutch and it was still there and also in neutral coasting i could still feel it. So that kinda eleminates the engine, I`m hoping it is a tyre, I will have a go at swapping them around, I`m thinking I`ll still feel it but maybe through the steering too?

If it's that bad and is an out of shape tyre, you will see it by just jacking it up and rotating the wheel. Just be careful there are no wires/nails etc protruding if you're running your hand around it

Yes mate...the fault will change...you will probably feel the steering shimmy but as was said above, give each wheel a good spin by hand to visually look for ovality or the tread running out of true. If you find one that doesn't look quite right swap it for your spare.
