good stop over enroute to Bordeaux

Post by trebormint »

Hi. Can anyone suggest a good place to stay for a night somewhere between St Malo & Bordeaux? I think the rough halfway point is around Fontenay-le-comte just off the A83.
Many thanks for any useful suggestions.

There is nice sounding Aire at Valanjou in the Aires book.

"River views, River walk to village with ruined abbey 2 minutes; Exercise trail through park; Lovely spot inspected 2010"

Looks like it could be a free one too with hook up, toilets as well as chemical toilet disposal etc. Here is the entrance, you can see the blue sign showing you the way :wink: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=n4712.9 ... 9,,0,22.52" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Jed, but it's a bit of a detour........I'll be on the A83 not the D84.

Jed you are a star. That first website was ideal....it showed an Aire Municipale at the town I mentioned.

Thanks very much for that.

What about Futuroscope at Poitier?

There is a "castle" there with camping (see catle camping) we stayed last year and it was very nice.

Or is you are going to Bordeaux for the wine, how about finding a spot in the Loire valley?

Poitiers is slightly off route Bishop. I don't want to vear far from the A84 on route to Bordeaux & onto Gujan-Mestras.
