Can you weld rear trailing arms for MOT?

Post by Merlin Cat »

Hello :D

I am having some work done on my van and there is a hole in a rear trailing arm. At present the body work man is welding it but I have just read a thread where it says they wont pass MOT if welded. Does any one know if this is correct please? At the moment I am in Spain but am looking to return with the van this summer and have it all legal in the UK. Doing internet searches it looks as though these are hard to come by also. I have told him all welding needs to be continous and not just stitched for a UK MOT. The body work in front of the rear wheel arch along the sill is also being welded, I presume this is acceptable? There was a rats nest inside the panel above and the rat wee over the years has completely rotted through the metal!

Any help/advice appreciated ,

thanks :D
