If you're feeling really brave I'm generally found uplifting lads round here (Oswestry) most weekends in the Doka. Mind you you'd need a decent Downhill bike, safety gear and a labotomy I reckon!
Loads of decent XC loops too if you do the pedalling bit.

Phew! W'ere back to pedal power. Although downhiller's aren't known for their fondness of pedalling...

I've just realized that my old Cannondale M300 is coming up for 20 years old and still going strong That means I've had the bike longer than I've been attached to the mem'sahib

Spec reads like the thinking man's (as opposed to the fashion victim's) weapons of choice for 1993:

217 SUP's on STX hubs, Coda 986's, SS7's, some stupid narrow ex-Raleigh Ti bars, Kona Impact headset, LX Rapidfires (on Magura clamps) shifting an LX groupset 48/36/24 (Middleburn granny) and a 12-28 7-speed cassette. The only modern parts are Ergon grips and a a Spesh Avater Gel saddle (to save the old chap from going numb!)

If only it had some Pace RC-100's up front...might have a look at fleabay on the offchance

The Cannondale M1000 3 series been seeing off Flybynight faux US (Far East) brands since I imported it in '92. Still as purchased except threw in new bottom bracket as a stop gap a couple of years ago. Richie Pro logic saddle has got some miles on it

Now look what's happened: I'm lurking on ebay watching early-90's mtb parts...this won't end well!

Back in xc days, before I was sponsored I raced on a Roberts frame, custom built with some nice bits and bobs.

After sponsorship I started with an S-Works steel with RC-30s, full XTR, Ti flight saddle etc. Then moved up to an S-Works M4, specialized FSR forks (built by rock shox) full XTR, custom wheel set built by me, and the only ever set of turquoise middleburn cranks ever made (at that time anyway).

Used to do r&d riding for new middleburn products too, got some funny stories about the "cock" ups involved in forgetting to change tooth profiles between chainring sizes....that wasted a fair bit of aluminium i can tell ye!
