The last few days have seen the weather starting to warm up a bit, and we're getting smells from the waste tank while driving - even freshly emptied. We didn't have anything like this last summer, even in 40deg heat.
Anybody got any good tips on sorting & preventing?
I'm leaning towards a bottle of bleach down the drain followed by a couple of pans of boiling water, then going for a drive to sloosh it about, before dumping it.

I would do what you said, but use drain cleaner instead of bleach. As the drain cleaner will dissolve the slime that's built up, bleach won't. (If you do get drain cleaner, make sure it's compatible with plastics, most are these days)

Make sure the sink plug is pushed in, and if waste tank is empty, leave the drain valve open

Ah, drain cleaner! Thanks for that. I'll have a look out for some.

Hi
When I empty my sink I pour a cap full of Dettol down the sink, I empty the grey water tank frequently, I use camp site washing up sinks ( when on them sites) for greasy stuff and on board for "clean" stuff. Over winter I open the drain valve and take the big cap off the tank to let the air in ......many things with my van but no problems with smells from grey water tank. Hope this helps.

I have a 'U' bend in the pipe just under the sink, as in domestic plumbing, this traps water and prevents the obnoxiuos fumes getting past the 'U' bend.

^^^^WHS - for some reason people forget to put a loop into the drain hose to ensure that there is a waterseal to prevent odours coming back.
