Hi folks
I am new to VW, In fact I have just bought my first one , it appears the water pump needs replacing as the coolant for the engine is not in the engine as it were... and the pulley is very loose ( on the face value, first inspection )
I have a couple of questions relating to this
does anybody know the correct water pump parts numbers for a 1985 1.9 petrol not sure what the exact engine codes are as have not got the vehicle home yet but I will pick it up tomorrow
and the second question is what should I expect of water cooled engine being run with out water/coolant in the engine apart form the obvious is there anything specific to VW engines to look out for when changing the water pump I suspect the pump failed through natural attrition , though I cant be certain of other causes
I normally mess with land rovers and motor bikes so I am familiar with general mechanics I was looking to your VW knowledge for some insight
thanks in advance
