AAZ oil cooler

Hi new to this site thinking of fitting an external oil cooler to my aaz does anyone know if you have to remove the water oil cooler to fit the sandwich plate or does the sandwich plate fit between the water oil cooler and oil filter thanks

Iirc it fits in between the oil filter housing and the oil cooler. The sandwich plate should come with an extender to the centre thread so both can fit on.

This makes the oil filter stick out further so you are best off using a short filter. But you probly knew that

I fitted the BW oil cooler and you need to use this one so that it fits around the adaptor plate and in the space between the adaptor plate and the pipe work.

Cheers did the b-w oil cooler make a lot of difference with running temps on yours ?I'm thinking of fitting an intercooler too but it looks very tight in and out of the turbo, so might have to shelf that idea for a while

Temp needle never goes above the LED, however never ran the AAZ without the oil cooler so couldn't give you a definitive answer.

I read that the threads for and against and went with the notion that the cost of the cooler outweighed that cost and nause of fitting another engine.

I haven't fitted an intercooler and unlikely to do so as the AAZ with rover boost pin and AAP gearbox pulls and cruises as well as I need it too.

Have you got any idea what exhaust gas temperatures you're running though? Intercooling isn't all about power, it's about cooler, more efficient running too.

I'm not after any more power just want it to run a bit cooler thought an intercooler would help as well as an oil cooler .it runs ok till it has to go up an hill then temp go s up just over half way same on motorways to .
not sure what temp the exhaust gases are at I'll check is it normal for the aaz to kick a bit of black smoke out under load fitted new air filter and just running some injector cleaner through sys hope it not the turbo

Black smoke under load will be unburnt diesel, ideally you wouldn't be seeing smoke, engine is normally creating excess heat if you can see that smoke trail.
