The repair kits from brickwerks are original VW ones. They rest may well be too, but I havent ordered yet.
Going to VW is 30mins each way driving and a lot of faff for me. I trust brickwerks to sell the best available, so where I can, I go with him regardless just for convienience.

Re: Pics of my gear linkage for you
Armchair parts ordering is fine except no one dealer/trader stocks everything. In this climate most of us have to shop around as much on price and availability as quality. There are at least two parts outlets in my area that do really good quality parts, one family-run and with a no-quibble guarantee. There is also a dedicated old-school nuts & bolts place in Cov and believe me, if you know the dimensions and purpose, they will have it.
In the end its a case of actually getting out there and asking who does what as it also means you are supporting businesses in or near your own area - before they fold altogether. Otherwise its like wondering where your local shops have gone when you've been using Tesco for five years.

Thanks for the replies, I saw them on brickwerks but I got a bit confused on which parts I need on the jk and vw heritage sites they're coded as kits.lsidir wrote:Cyrus wrote:Just out of interest where do you get replacement parts?
Are they still available through vw europarts? I'll be changing Mine come summer.
These parts are also available from VW itself, so you can still buy the original ones. I always check first the local VW dealership (since I am ok with paying a bit more to keep the OEM quality) and then I check websites.
lefteris
I had a diesel and from what I gather from the wiki I have an extra bush above the fuel tank.
I'll try vw 1st as my local (ish) one is very helpful.
Cheers guys

Re: Pics of my gear linkage for you
Just changed my gearbox oil as well (bought from a local factors
), now its changing really well! It also seems quite a bit quieter driving round.. less whirring and whistling.
Did discover when I was giving it a test spin however, that when I brake water pours out from somewhere onto my head, and when I accelerate it comes out in the back and soaks the bed! But its all okay, because I traced it back to a nice big rusty hole
