Tailgate Leak

Post by salgarfi »

I've looked at a number of threads re leaking tailgate seal, and I definitely have the problem. I'm always slow at pulling my finger out, and bucking down to jobs that need to be done, so for the mean time, does anyone have a simple solution that I can use to deminish the problem - besides stuffing a rag along the top seam. It only happens after very hard rainfall, and I might also be suffering from an ingress of water via the high top, but my tailgate seals are definitely leaking as well. Any ideas?

thanks,
Sal

New tailgate seal from http://www.ahschofield.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; :ok

It pushes onto the lip rather than being glued in the channel

A bead of silicone  :rofl :rollin

On a serious note, JK and VWH sell the tailgate seal's, quite expensive (around £60) but in theory, its only a quick easy job and will most likely cure your problem :)

Is changing the seal really quick and easy? I gather that some people have had problems with tailgates fitting badly afterwards.

Took me 5 minutes with no problems

Tailgates probably don't fit because JK sell "pooh" seals

Just to clear things up: the Schofield tailgate seal doesn't sit in the slot like the original factory seal? Is it hollow, so it sits/stretches over the gutter in which the factory seal presently sits? Am I right to presume this?
