Convert odometer from Kilometers to Miles

Post by richlaz »

Convert odometer/speedo from kilometers to miles:

Has anyone done this?

There's one on eBay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-T2 ... 3374311759" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But this has a screw-in cable connection, and mine is a "push on and clip" type.

Wouldn't it be possible to print the background of a miles odometer and attach it to my current odometer behind the needle? :D  :rofl

A couple of years ago someone posted a speedo dial on here for anyone to print out. They also come up periodically in ebay in white with black lettering. You could also lay a MPH dial on a scanner I suppose. Anyone who does vinyl graphics should be able to do one for you.

Thanks for the info :D

Just done a search, is this the thread you were talking about?

I saved a copy of the template, might have a bit of a play around with it :D

Yes although I couldn't actually find the template there. Shouldn't be too difficult to scan one though. Just make sure the max speed is similar.

There was a link to a blank template on imageshack

I've looked at a few photos of speedos, I believe the speedo starts at 10mph and goes upto 100mph? :D

The one I remember had the numbers on it although they could be added easily enough :D

Couple of points reading this:

The original you showed didn't have a trip meter and the template does.
and
Even if you fit the MPH dial to the KPH speedo the tumblers will be recording in KM not miles.

I didn't think about the tumblers :rofl would be a bit silly

My original has a trip counter and clip type speedo cable, so I may just keep an eye out on eBay incase a correct type appears :-) (trip isn't mandatory but is nice to have)
