i've noticed a strange whirling/rattling noise coming from somewhere when I'm freewheeling in low gear and low speed. e.g. in traffic - accelerate in first gear, then foot off the gas and leave the clutch engaged to slow down gradually. Haven't noticed it when using second/third gear engine breaking down hills and it goes away the moment you put the clutch down or accelerate.
Any clues?
Cheers,
Tim

Yep, noisy clutch release bearing - possibly.

Just tried to record the noise, but of course now its not doing it.
Only differences that I can think of tonight are that it's cold and the van wasn't loaded. I recon it just knows!
