switched live....best place
Hi
im looking to add a water pump to run my chargecooler....the pump will be mounted under the van...inboard/ parrallel to the sliding door area.
i want it to come on only when the ign is switched on.
could you tell me where the best, easiest , safest place is to take a live feed from......i then plan to wire a relay to draw 12v direct from the baterry.
as with most things technical......its a bit of a blurr.
( i have a few recommendations...ie fuel soleniod...but not really sure where that is....or if its the best.)
thanks in advance.

In the black box left hand side front of engine with the glow plug relay is a black wire or two. Connect to one of those.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Now this isnt my knowledge, as i have none
but i'm sure there is a thread on BY saying they attached to a connection on the alternator? From memory because it only becomes live with the engine running, as you wouldnt want it running with just the ignition on

Time is a drug. Too much of it kills you

Now that would be convenient.......looked but I can't find it on BY.....I don't want to start hacking into cables that connect to black magic things like ecu,s

Just pretend your pump is a fridge or leisure battery and follow the split charge diagram.
It's the thin blue wire on the alternator you need to trigger the relay btw.

Re: switched live....best place
go off the stop solenoid on top of the pump it should be the only wire to the pump that will start the chargecooler pump straight away when the ignition is turned

Mine runs as soon as ignition is turned on and runs for a second or 2 after it is turned off.

That's the same black wire as the black wire in the black box.
