Gearbox oil

Post by Tug »

Hi all, not t25 related but thought i would ask the question due to the wealth of knowledge on here. I have recently done the headgasket, cambelt, waterpump etc on my aunties polo. Car runs good now. Anyhow i have noticed a soiled, oily area either side of the drive shafts. Bearing in mind the car has done 135k. Im going to check the gearbox oil level. Can 75-90 oil be used instead of the straight 80w. Reason being i have used Morris lodexol 75/90 in my t25 box and its silky smooth. The polo box is fine no whines of groans but its lacked tlc over its life. The polo is a 1992 1.0 Fox.
Thanks Glenn.

Thanks 4 the reply. My cousins golf petrol had issues too. One of the rivets flew off the diff and burst the casing. Common apparently on 1.4/1.6 Golfs. She had a new gearbox and clutch fitted recently. Sobs
