Exhaust issue!

Post by Rogue Trooper »

After spending £500 on concert tickets we can afford the Stainless one just yet, so bought a cheap JK backbox (Jopex) and Jointing Pipe (Ernst).
The Jointing pipe i took off was welded on the Elbow part but loose flange the other end (using a sealing ring) on the silencer end.

Now the one I have got from JK is the otherway round and just wont fit! Is this the manufacture welding the wrong end or is this now common?

One other thing is that drilled holes dont match up and need filing out to fit

Also one end of the silencer is threaded, which end is this ment to be?

Thanks :ok

Just been doing some digging.

According to the ERNST website there are two types of Jointing Pipe for the 1.9L.

116510 (25251147BC) Which is what I have welded at the Silencer end.

116527 (25251147BG) both ends loose and uses a sealing ring both ends.

I've had Ernst petrol and TD mufflers, and TD J-pipe, all have been good quality and fine re. dimensions.

The welded one is an earlier version. The loose ring one is a latter version. You need a gasket for the welded one on the box side and a sealing ring on
the other.
The threaded side of the box is for the tail pipe.
