I did an oil change on my 1.9dg,and put in a new sump plug as the head of the old one was looking sad and been roounded off.
I have an oil drip from the sump plug, is it worth dropping the oil out, clean and dry the plug and apply some gasketing compound to try and rectify the leak ?
Anyy help appreciated

Re: Annoying oil drip from sump plug
did you also put a new copper washer on the sump plug? you really need to do this each time you do an oil change

Re: Annoying oil drip from sump plug
if you did then use PTFE tape (8 or 9 windings)
that'll stop it

8or 9 windings - very precise Kev. You have obviously been through this before.kevtherev wrote:if you did then use PTFE tape (8 or 9 windings)

I use ptfe tape all the time at work, I use 35 windings on some plastic fittings.
The more you use, creates an "O" ring as it bunches up under the head when tightening.
kind of a double seal effect

Just wind the bolt up really tight
.
Only joking, take care not to try and cure it by tightening up so much you strip the thread in the alloy casing. Many have done it (though it is fixable of course)
p.s. I bet you all ready knew that
