Has anyone got any idea what diameter fuel hose the vent (breather) hose is between the fuel filler neck and and the fuel tank. Mine has developed a small leak and when I brim the tank it just drips petrol everywhere. Have tried the Wiki and the Haynes but can see the info anywhere.
Cheers

Can you not get that part still?
Vagcat lists it as 251201166
reason I ask is because i seem to remember it having a special end on it that pushes into a rubber grommet on the top of the tank
Example here http://www.vw-wholesale.com/details.asp ... 2&id=10111" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
E D I T: Just noticed that classic parts in germany sell it for about £19. So if you email brickwerks and ask them to order it for you they will

Re: Fuel tank Vent Hose
Are you sure its the breather pipe thats leaking, because as Cruz says, the end pushes into a rubber grommet on top of the tank and I had to replace the breather pipe grommets on my tank after filling it to the brim and leaving a couple litres of petrol on the garage forecourt
As you have to drop the tank to do this, it might be a good idea to replace the rest of the tank seals while your at it.

Re: Fuel tank Vent Hose
Usual culprits for leaking is the large grommet where the filler neck enters the tank, or even the rubber grommets on top of the tank that all the breather pipes pop into.
EIther way it may be prudent to use up all the fuel in the tank then drop it for a thorough inspection. Whilst it's off check the condition of your hydraulic clutch/brake pipes for corrosion as well as the handbrake cable.
E D I T: And replace the breather pipes from the main tank to the expansion tanks under the arches.
Brickwerks sell the correct hose for this

Re: Fuel tank Vent Hose
Have done some digging they don't make the part any more.
As for the leak it's coming from the top of the vent hose where the jubilee clip attaches it to the filler neck. Going to try Volks Magic in Oldbury see if I can get one from there.
Have got the tubes for the breather tubes to expansion tanks so that will be a job to do at some point
