Location of leisure battery 85 high top

Hi there. Can antbody tell us where the leisure battery should be located in our hightop 1985? Its currently in the kitchen area in a cupboard with the water and gas bottle???

Most leisure batteries are stowed under the passenger seat. On petrol vans the starter battery is under the driver's seat. On diesel vans the starter battery is in the engine bay so you can take your pick.

Theres no prob having leisure battery in that cupboard - well, unless it actually poses any problems for you. Usually its because something else is where the battery would normally go or you've got a diesel or something.

Its a 1.6 diesel. There is a space behind the drivers seat which is empty. Its just somebody told us its dangerous to hve the battery in with the gas???

As long as the battery fits the physical space available in battery box, you could put it there. Measure dimensions of battery first as that can make a major difference. But, you'll also need a new length of red battery cable of sufficient capacity to relocate it. Copper cable not cheap these days either.

You could also (if you don't have them now) switch to those quick connect battery clamps rather than having to mess with a 10mm or 13mm spanner when you need to get the battery out.
