Just been out in my van for the first time in a couple of weeks and noticed a loud ticking noise from the engine any suggestions as to what could be causing it? The noise has been there a while but was not as loud and seemed to ease off after 5 minutes driving.
It's an '89 1.9 petrol with 109k
Thanks

Also the frequency of the tick increases as the engine revs

The oil has drained from your hydraulic tappets. A run should put it right, it happens when an engine's been stood for a bit. Nothing to worry about as long as you have enough oil
What a long strange trip it's been

Fantastic, thanks for the prompt response!
Will check the oil and head out for a run this afternoon

If its persistent after at good run, try an oil change. See https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Al ... ecommended" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
