So I'm trying to replace my leaking waterpump on my 1.9 dg engine and have read the wiki and my Haynes.
Managed To get the pulley off fine and now have the thermostat housing completely unbolted and loose. The problem is, there is a metal pipe from the housing across the engine. I have tried unbolting the other end of it but it cannot be pulled through still connected to the housing.
Can anyone tell me how to remove this pipe?
Cheers

Re: Replacing water pump problem!
its a push fit with a "o" ring seal...... chances are some PO has added idiot gunk when putting it together.
you can get it out if you take the main pulley off tho...

great, thanks mocki. just kept pushing and pulling and swearing at it. eventually managed to get it out by rotating the thermostat housing round and round, and it was gunked completely up.
now need to get it all back together
