Check your fuses VERY carefully and/or connectors for indicators on fuse box. I had this once and it turned out to be a fuse that looked fine but was in fact damaged (fell apart when I removed it).

hazzard switch also causes these symptoms, substitution is the only way of prooving tho.
if it is a early van, there is a flat three pinned inline connector near to the fuse box, two greens( one traced black) and another colour i cant remember , this can cause indecator issues, but dont think it will be that?????/

thank you both problem is now solved .KOVKID you were bang on ! i checked all the fuse contacts and found it to be the last but one fuse as there is no cover on the fuse box in the glove box to tell me what fuse is for witch circuit.guess i will have to identify them all now.thank you both again.

Thought it would be that. :D

I only mention it because I once spent an HOUR trying to figure out the fault on someone elses and it was only when I actually started taking the fuses out that the last but one fell to bits. Generally the black white green wire combinations are on the indicator circuit - identical in fact to the VW Beetle which is why using a haynes bug wiring diagram is so much easier to follow if you get stuck. And yes the hazards worked fine. All I got from the indicators was a dimmed, fixed green light.

Thats your MOT sorted then hopefully :D

Adjust your rear brakes up so they just catch, check for wheel bearing play and any split boots/gaiters. Long as there are no holes and you've checked the obvious you should be ok.
