Rev Counter

Post by KEN-M »

Fitting a rev counter to my van was 1600 petrol converted to 1.9 diesel
I dont think the loom was changed so how do I wire the rev counter in.
I have the rev counter but not the plug on the back I can see 3 pins.
Cheers Ken.

Whar year of manufacture is the van and are you fitting an aftermarket Tacho or the tacho that is sometimes fitted to these vans as standard?

Diesel rev counters take their signal from the w terminal on the alternator, petrol from the coil, the wires go to the ribbon connector that connects the whole dash loom to the binnical.

Im fairly certain petrol and diesel rev counters are not interchangeable.

For an early van, you will need to run the signal/pulse wire from the alternator and provide a +12 and earth connection. Later post 86 vans have all the wires at the dashboard even if a tacho isn't fitted.
