Westy water pump / tap not working

Post by radman »

Hi

I'd be very grateful for some pointers please! The westy water tap has just stop working, mechanically turns without abnormal resistance etc, two electrical contacts at base of tap appear OK. Electrical contacts look ok at the top of the water tank etc. Can anyone point me to the fuse responsible for the water pump?

Any help would be appreciated, meant to be going away this weekend :D

The fuse is at the base of the driver's side door pillar. There's a little screwed-on cover over a fusebox with two fuses. One's charging, the other's water pump.

The water system's really straightforward. There's two wires to the tap. Check you've got +12v to one. Short 'em together, and see if the pump works. If so, the tap switch is duff. If still nothing, then turn the tap on and check you've got +12v to the connectors on the pump. If so, and if the other wire's a good earth, then you've got a duff pump. We've had to replace both pump (dirt cheap, local caravan shop) and tap (expensive, Gunzl - but easy to bypass with a small switch)...
