Evening all,
I noticed prior to the weekend trip and since we came back a stain on the drive under the van. After investing ive noticed a slight drip coming from the right hand side of the engine (looking from the rear) its not oil or brake flued, a taste test suggests its water (a bit sweet) but when i check the water res (not the expandtion bottle) it is full to the top. The expandtion bottle is empty. I wiped it off earlier and just checked it again to see its back?
Anyone got any ideas where its coming from please?
Cheers
G

Re: mystery leak!
Could be a hose higher up in the engine bay and dribbling down. Hopefully its nothing major.

Re: mystery leak!
What engine type are we dealing with here ?
It should be about half full, put some water in it and keep an eye on it. If it goes down then you do have a coolant leak.
Often coolant leaks are not a big problem.
Sometimes though, they are

Re: mystery leak!
The heater hoses come from that side of the engine, mine has an occasional leak from the n/s heater hose where it joins the metal pipe - the hose is past it's best and ought to be replaced really, it only drips a bit and doesn't seem to do it all the time but the way it drips down and runs over the head and lower tinware makes it look like the water jacket has gone
Might be worth a look, it can be hard to locate small leaks as the water evaporates very fast so have a good look for dried antifreeze.
