hi have a 1982 4 speed changed from 1.6 Aircooled to 1.9 petrol watercooled
had it about 3.5 years and sorted problems as i go.exelent hightop runs very
well,appart from 2nd gear up to second hit an miss 3 down to second fine.lots of cluncking as shaft allways hits body work.i have took the plung and got compleat shafts off watercooled petrol from mega bug.thay arived dismantelled.have now fitted them (gear bush new bolt to front gearbox)
had to lower tank to fit front section with bush in front of join and back of cross member that is back of petrol tank.the bend/riser bit i have fitted going up to floor area,above tank.the front of shaft has 2 prongs with new plastic bits fitted.can not get the shaft and gear leaver conected with out jacking up shaft to conect to gear leaver that is to far left(from above).had it in neutral when fitted. please please help.have gone threw wiki,tec ect not found pics on 4 speed watercooled,any tips greatly apressiated,as very confused...peter from where men r men and sheep are worryed :oops:

there is a bush above the front of the tank on original air cooled , cut this off or bend it away to fit the watercooled gear selectors.
