Windscreen sun strip?
Anyone know where I can find a window sun strip for the top of the front windscreen? Just the stick on vinyl type?

Re: Windscreen sun strip?
I would imagine vinyl graphic suppliers have something close although I think its still readily available in some lengths - you may have to use two lengths that meet behind rear view mirror. Some motor accessory places still stock it. Thinking laterally, I suppose a strip of window tint film would do the job too. The faded stuff is best though.

I was wondering if this would fit the bill?

At the risk of sounding like a miserable G*t
You can’t have any”stickers” which encroach more than 10mm into swept area “A”
'A' is:
. in the swept area of the Windscreen,. 290mm wide
. centred on the centre of the steering wheel.
You cant apply a Tint film to your windscreen either as it must let 75%VLT which is pretty close to what a standard one does,This does not apply to factory graduated tints as they are part of the windscreen and not stuck on.
I know other people have had them for years, but we have just had a purge up here with loads of the modders being made to take them off.
I hate to see folk spending money on things that could cost them more than they thought.
Just so you know
Cheers

Re: Windscreen sun strip?
Well I'm fairly sure my windscreen wipers don't go that far up the screen
Its only a sunstrip and above swept area - ie area behind rear view mirror.

Re: Windscreen sun strip?
You must have read my signature
i will take a look when it gets delivered - not sure it is all that dark anyway and yes, it would only be up behind the sun visors/rear view mirror - just to cover the gaps between them.

Re: Windscreen sun strip?
Doh !
Just checked my books, Swept area “a” is Mot & Vosa
Police use the The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 which apples the vision reference zone which is
(i) the primary vision area as defined in British Standard Specification No. 857
“The primary vision area is the area of the windscreen through which the driver would normally look through the most. It excludes glass within 2.5”(6cm) of the top and bottom edges of the screen and within 3.5”(9cm) of the offside and nearside edge of the screen”
Admittedly mostly used to stop the modders with their cool “corsa” and “motor sport” sun strips but just so you know
Cheers

Re: Windscreen sun strip?
Did this today.

Looks really good - a few small bubbles but that is because the windscreen was not quite as clean as it could have been.
I have a template so can cut out a couple more if anyone wants one. I made sure that it only comes down the screen to 2 1/2''

Err the main reason for this reg is nothing, Zero to do with how much you see out and everything to do with your nice clear mug being available for all the cameras to click on
