Westy drivers courtesy light picture please!

Post by Hacksawbob »

If you have a westy could you post a pic of the wiring behind the courtesy light please. I am rewiring mine and I just want to double check before I power it all up. Thanks.
This is what I have from memory
brown white and brown go to one side of light one to door open and permanent on, both are switched earths . One brown piggy backs the solid brown and goes to rear
Red live to the other side of the light + piggy backed red goes to rear
Back wire goes straight through from front to rear.

Edited to correct predictive text on an ipad!

Hi thanks, but that's not quite what I'm after , the two negs one is the switched earth an I think one is a normal earth. But there is also some piggy backing to take power/earths to the rear, so a quick pic of the wiring would be useful

According to Heynes Manual page 12.31, the solid red and solid brown are run to the rear reading lights. Permanent +ve and -ve feeds. Page 12.32 includes tailgate lights. These are the VW courtesy lights not the westy interior 'camping' fluorescent lights obviously. Can scan relevant pages in if you want Bob?

Thanks for that I have the Bentley but not the westy bit sadly! The wiring for courtesy lighting and the rear fluorescents share that wiring loom on the westy.

Well if the westy interior lights do 'share' the VW courtesy light circuit, it'll still be the red and brown permanent feeds that will be looped via piggy backs to them surely as they are switched on the fluorescents themselves. Dunno what the black one heading to the rear is for...

Didn't know westy fluorescents ran off VW wiring....

Yes it all runs from fuse 3 the ciggy lighter and stereo, so unless you do the wiring mod it runs from the driving battery, crazy eh?

I'd just move fuse 3 to the leisure battery - and use matches to light me fags unless I was driving
