Air cooled oil type

Post by D'Squared »

Probably been asked before, but i am wanting to change the oil in my air cooled 'CU' code T25, which has the hydraulic tappets.

I do get issues with the tappets if left unrun for a week or so, they become noisy, maybe a fault with them i don't know yet - but do go quiet after running it for a while, but its also due an oil change.

What do you fellow 2.0ltr air cooled owners use?

Cheers

Simple answer. Halfords Classic motor oil, or any other good mineral oil. Never ever use synthetic or your engine will turn into a sieve.
Martin.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.

California Dreaming and I have recently updated the 'recommended oil' page to cover all the v-dubs. Neither of us recommend monograde by the way - for the reasons stated. He worked for VW for many years, me out in the field in all weathers servicing everything from the bug onwards and we agree on the choice of oils for engine types and why. Have a read, its fairly extensive that page. It was put together after so many questions on oil cropped up on here and is as concise as you'll need.

Brand is your choice but the info is all there. Hope it helps!
