hi Tony,
Yes , thanks I did. Once I replaced the CTS with a VW item the resistance was much better. The one that was in the engine read 4.5 k ota at 11 deg ( and looked brand new :o )when it should be nearer 3 to 3.5k . It has made a difference but she still floods if you dont keep here running for a few minutes.

Just remembered something. One of the things I tried before experimenting with the resistors was to disconnect the wire to ECU terminal 21 for provision of additional enrichment when the starter motor is operated. This did not solve the problem and I never tried reconnecting it after fitting the resistors.

Yes, i did see that on the cct diagram last night. Trouble is there doesn't see to be a lot of info out there about the injection system. When you dig deeper its either the Air Cooled system or the Digifant system that gets the better explanation

I will have a go at cutting that wire, thanks for the heads up.

I have now fitted a 2.5 Kohm 10w reistor in paralell with CTS2 and the results are very good so far.
My worry was starting on a cold morning. It was just above freezing last night and she started fine, little lumpy on idle for a minute or so untill the engine started to warm up a little.
Stopped the engine 6 times in a row and it started every time with no chuffing or clouds of unburnt fuel fumes. It wouldn't have started on the 2nd attempt before the mod.
SO...............
Thanks so far to all that have had an input and a special thanks to icosahedron
:ok
Will post up after a week or so with better results.

Interesting. Mine's at ~4700ohm at similar ambient temp. (280 five minutes after returning from a longish run, so coolant full-hot). It smells rich when cold, but no real issue when hot - and it'll idle (if low and lumpy initially) all the way from cold until the fan kicks in.

That's great, you are getting the same result as I did. With a 2k7 resistor I found that enrichment wasn't enough, slight lack of power when cold. With the 3k3 there is no awareness that the engine is warming up, start, select gear and reverse onto the street without touching the accelerator. Not saying that 3k3 is "the one", the value will depend on the characteristics of TEMP2, but increase the value of the resistance now until you hit the sweet spot.

Well thats 2 weeks with temperatures as low as -2 and she starts fine.
Would seem the resistor "patch" works well.
i wonder why it there is a glitch with the standard CTS  not that that matters any more.
Thanks for all your help.
