crap in fuel tank/carb
filled me van up today full of petrol, anyway went over a few speed bumps a bit quick and van started to choke/stall.think i must have stirred a bit of crap up in the fuel tank as the filter just behind the tank was brown with crap.think it might be rust but cannot be sure.anyway put my spare fuel filter on that i carry in the van as this has happened before and it starts second go.do you think the fuel tank needs cleaning/flushing and has anyone done this.if so any advice will be appreciated, cheers dave

If its original, it may well need a new one by now. Many of them rust from the top but seen them rot at the seams too. If you've had over 20 years out of it, it hasn't done too badly. Just watch what you buy though.
Otherwise keep a few filters in the glove box
