Best JX Exhaust
Looking to replace my exhaust (JX) and trying to find best make. First choice currently from Guenzl http://www.vwbusshop.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Part No 444000006). This is a complete set from Ernst for EUR 213. I've not heard of the make but it sounds German and solid.
Any comments on choice, or anyone care to recommend anything else?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Best JX Exhaust
Four years ago I got an Ernst (good brand) J-pipe and muffler from GSF. Might be worth seeing if they still carry them, alternatively your local independent motor factor should be able to get Ernst I would hope.

Thanks, all.
I think I'm going to go for Ernst then. I had a GSF one previously but the downpipe corroded quite quickly and I'm suspicious about the baffles in the muffler also.
Just Kampers also sell Ernst, I have found. After adding up the cost of all the various bits, the total in GBP seems to be around the same as Guenzl's package in EUR. Therefore I think I might try our German friend unless the shipping charge dictates otherwise.

£100 inc. delivery and fittings as opposed to closer to £200. No brainer, I have used the Ebay ones as have others with no quality problems. I don't like wasting money as much as the next man/woman.
If it were for a petrol motor I might hum and har a bit though as they are not as easy to do.

Re: Best JX Exhaust
Yes, I looked at the eBay complete set but am a bit suspicious as to whether it's a proper VW part. For example, the tailpipe normally bolts on but this one looks as though it's welded on. I appreciate it's about half the price, but that would be a false economy if it doesn't last as long.
You say you've used them yourself with no problems, though, so it's definitely on my shortlist. I've got some thinking to do, I feel.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: Best JX Exhaust
They are clamp on tailpipes - better imho as you can angle them down a little more than normal so that it doesn't knock on the bodywork. (which my bolt on one does in reverse a little due to a different mount being used on the nose of the gearbox which raised the rear of the engine by a few mm).

Re: Best JX Exhaust
The £40 ebay ones from Germany do have a welded tail pipe that vibrates on the body when you reverse, slotted mounting holes werent great and had to be opened out / redrilled and 18 months later he rear silencer bracket has sheared off completely.... but it still works... cant say as id buy one again...

Re: Best JX Exhaust
All that I have seen and used have the clamp on tail pipe. Mine only knocks the bodywork because I used a modified gearbox mount. I had no fitting problems or problems since.
