Coolant pipes - replace front with rubber hose?

Post by gailus40 »

:( One of the front coolant pipes has split, and I have been told that I can replace them with rubber hose. Has anyone done this, and do you know where I can buy lengths of the hose from. Thought this might work out cheaper than £200 for pipes + the labour. Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks

Most metric sizes of coolant hose are available from a good commercial motor factors (NOT halfords) our local one only has it in 1 meter lengths, depending on the age of your van it's either 28mm i.d. for the old metal type or 32mm for the later plastic kind.

Oh and welcome to the club btw :ok :pimp

The rubber radiator hoses are still available , under £20 each from VW Heritage , and other suppliers as well I expect.
If its the steel or plastic pipe that has split , there are plenty of the plastic pipes available second hand. Try a wanted ad or pm billy739 who posts on here for parts.
