Re: HELP
Carbs tend not to go bad on their own, have you checked the inline fuel filter behind the tank ?

cheers yes put a new filter in about two months ago , it was running ok but for a little hesitation at lower revs then turned on to slower roads and it just refused to pull away from a stand still unless you revved the back side off it ( bit like trying to set off in fourth )it coughed and refused to tick over but once moving it wasn't as bad. did have a back fire at one stage

Re: HELP
Check the filter again ... if your tank is decomposing it may be full again ? Check the petrol filler neck flange too .. http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... ory_id=114 if that's letting in crap and/or water you will have said symptoms.

Re: HELP
That sounds a similar problem to the one I had at the weekend. It sounds like OK and then gets worse and then OKish again. The AA had a look, he concluded it was an ignition problem if it is backfiring. Thought the distributor had worn but sprayed some electrical contact cleaner into the distributor housing to get rid of the static and hey-resto it was fine.
Might be worth hving a go at that. I think you can buy it at Halfords or Scewfix.

devdub wrote:Fuel pump gave me similar symptomsJust saying
When they are failing they normally peter out at high revs as the pump is required to supply more fuel but can be fine at tickover. There's a blockage somewhere in the fuel system ... possibly crap in the inlet side of the carb in the tiny metal gauze filter ?
