Ian - what do you mean by the heater matrix? Leaking, gone, letting air in some other way?
I think she has been like it for years in all honesty.....because we have been replacing parts as they have failed, and the failure has been months apart, we have never linked it all up. She has had new rad, a new piece of pipe, the main metal cooling pipe etc replaced....but over the 7 years (I know - where does the time go) that I have had her. But now I know what she is up to, I won't let her get pressurised again.
Anyway, have spoken to Elite...and we have some options to try before I start spilling tears and emptying the wallet. First thing is to try the darlek cap, and rule that out. So will change it with Ritchie's tonight and see what occurs,. Then apparently the water pump could be duff - while the front spins the back doesn't and air can get in that way. Oh, and she still has the braided hose....which is very loose on its connection to the engine....got a replacement that I ordered from Baxter indoors somewhere, so I will whack that on. Don't know exactly what that can do to the engine, but remember reading on here it can affect the air ratio and vacuum. (I think)
Going to get underneath and see if I can see where the leak is coming from, and get her to the garage for the sniff test (again)
The good thing is that at the moment she is still driveable. She isn't getting hot. I just drive with a screw driver, a 14mm spanner and a bottle of coolant! And bleed the radiator regularly. Interestestingly, the pressurised expansion tank is always brim full. Not going to take her any great distance obviously.
Oh well...just one of life's little challenges. She has always got us to where we need to go...even if she has needed a lift home!! So can't be cross with her!
Will update as we go on.
