T25 DG Engine Questions
Hi, I have recently bought a recon DG wasserboxer 1900 petrol. I think it is from a later 1985+ van. I exchanged my 1984 DG engine! what are, if any, the main differences? eg exhausts, clutch and cover, power etc? are there any recorded issues with a straight swap with all ancillaries etc? help please, I am a novice who wants his van back on the road but wants to learn more about his engine van! Any help would be appreciated.
I have many other questions for someone willing to listen!

Re: T25 DG Engine Questions
The exhaust is different, the cooling system is different, the clutch should both be the 228mm, ancillarys are the same except the water pump and all engine bay coolant hoses, thermostat housing etc obviously. Power is the same 78 PS (whatever that is).
As for a straight swap the engine bar alloy cradle is different, the later type has the lugs on the back for the silencer cradles to mount to. The engine mounts them selves are the same (I'd swap them as a matter of course). I'd also renew the spigot bearing and clutch while the engine's out and also the exhaust studs etc that are a barsteward to do with the engine in.
Other things will occur to me as the day progresses no-doubt.

* Renew the starter motor bush (if it's a manual

Perfect time to renew your coolong system. As parts of your old one are very rare
Other wise bolt what you can onto the later engine.
And as ian says renew stuff that you can now do easily
I went for the later exhaust system.

Re: T25 DG Engine Questions
A new oil pump/cover as well ?
Is the later engine fitted with the 'Buzzer of Doom' (2 oil pressure sensors) if it's different from the old engine then you need to rectifty that issue. I would be inclined to take advantage of the situation to fit both oil pressure and oil temperature guages.

Re: T25 DG Engine Questions
As stated already everything from your old engine will bolt straight onto the new one, the only thing different will be the extra oil pressure sender by the pulley but as you won't have the wire to plug onto it then just leave the sender in and forget it.
All the other advice regarding replacing/upgrading parts while the engine is out is well worth considering if funds allow.
