Is a single weld enough with all that weight and leverage? Good forward thinking though ....

Quality all the way

Ahhh, good work. But IMO, you really only need the one, at opposite end to that marvelous hinge. :D

If you've already bought the other catchj, you'll easily sell it on to the next copy of yours.

looks like you have just come up with a very viable third or fourth wheel carrier design option. ( i mean there are the original vw ones and copies of, the spindly stainless ones a la bernd jager etc, and one or two back door rack kinds of designs.) but yours has the bonus of fitting pickups as well.
a truly universal rack.
unless i am missing something and there is a reason why you wouldnt put one on a camper or van variant?
i cant see a reason myself though.
on a van it would remove any stress from the rear quarter panel and place it on a removeable part instead ( the tow bracket.)
i like it a lot.
all that remains is for you to test the b0110(I<$ of it.

i can't either see any reason why it would not fit a van either.

i have primed and painted it, and mounted the clamp and sperder plate to the tail gate.

then went in to have my dinner, came back out as the sun was setting to mount the wheel. now it is all clamped up it is nice and solid.

the view out of the rear window is only slightly impaired.

undecided if i need it or not, gonna pick up a small section of 50mm o/d tube (only need about 25mm) and cut it in half and and sleave the arm and then spot/pug weld it on. as the gun clip i/d is 50mm and i have used 43 o/d tube.
