Hi Kev and MM,

Can I ask a question about the upper window screen roof section you fitted as I think it is similar to what I will have to do.

I understand you joggled the repair section edge 1mm so it slide under the existign roof a few mm. In this photo at the top you can see a pretty tall weld and I was wondering how you over came this in the end. It looks a pretty large gap, did you fully weld along this?

Hi, have you got a name as your UN is a bit long
half the battle with doing this sort of work is attention to detail, so please pay attention look at the thread ref the roof join, look at what I have doen , your answers are there, if you look at the picky of the underside you will see scorch marks every 20mm or so, therefore it is tacked not continuose welds, the gap is not in depth but in distance and I gave the reasons for it, nothing is hidden nor secret I cannot nor could not reasonably make it any clearer , so to help yourself you must look a little closer and try to understand what your seeing and why its done that way for until you do you will find it very difficult to progress as you will have decisions to make that are specific to your job/situation ,

Ok mm no problem. I read through all the posts and saw that you spot welded from the inner roof image, i just didnt know if that was then fully seam welded.

My main query was in the above picture i did not see how you finished the seem that was joggled as i would probably have to do this wanted to do it right.

oh, externally I did little to the seam , ground the weld back a touch with a flap disc and tasped it up and brushed a coat of seam sealer over it, same on the inside, the only time I would do it different is if it were a tin top or that it would be seen , but in that case it would be unlikely to have rottet in the first place ,
its correct that you ask ref the spot or continuose weld , most places a series of spots is fine and will cause no problems, in the areas I do seam weld it is not always required but because I can I then do
the side if you look is butt welded to the reamining bit of originnal roof, to me this was the easiest way, but as long as whatever you are fitting over it will still fit then overlap it and spot again it will still be ok doen that way, and you wont ever get knocked by me or anybody else for doing it that way.
now I realy do have to get on with fitting the revagon up, so woulkd you mind awfully if this subject moves over to your own van and we can continue there

Well the deed has about been done so where to start, err the front
I 'll start with what was the grotty front screen corners

looks nicer with a few fitments.

needs a twig in here

this took a lot of work as the previous repairer had made a right mess of it all

one of my favorite picks

few lights and bits added

scabby old lower front is now looking a bit more original

its got a door fitted

front steps weren't bad just needed a touch and a bit of lead pity it will be hidden by rubb ers

the fools fuel hole, the arch we apply a very fine coat of stonechip just to the underside edge, as I think this helps keep the integrity of the paint here

this is the join between the new osr wing and the sill and fridge panal I made

fridge panal and fridge vent , same again I have used very fine stonechip from the sill down, protection and not hiding anything

well I will try again , just binned it all as the picks didnt rotate as they were on p bucket....
this is seldom seen but at least we know its starting clean and wholesome...

happy with this as the lower part of the rear 1/4 was err fun to make....

the window aperatures were bad, not as bad as some on here but they look fit for purpose now

so the side minus the nice bits that make it look good

the roof came oput very well considering , this is the NS front , the drivers side is identical

the last repaint was in a slightly mismatched shade but now we are the same inside and out as we have done the doors and all the reaveals.

the NSR 1/4 is all new , well a reject wing ,a new lower bit and a donor cut, happy with itnow

As it was a sunny day though might as well let the van have some rays and yes I did have a beer as well

rear flap is virginal and clean

this is the inside of the tailgate aperature O/S

so thats it for todays picks , I have since refitted the tow bar and rewired the socket so on with nicer bits tommorow
