Paint discrepancy help

Post by jamesandtheopenroad »

Good afternoon fellow members, some advice and guidance please.

I am trying to decide on a new colour for my beloved and and considering Panama Brown L12a.

Now in order to get an idea of the true colour, I ordered a sample of L12a (the paint code) which duly came and was tested in situ on the van.

Just to make doubly sure the colour was true, I ordered another sample from a different company. Arrived, tested...

... two different colours.

Now, one was in spray can form, the other as a brush touch up - would this make a difference?

I've had a big variation in paint that I ordered from the same company!

Was just about to write "how did you know which company I went to" then realised I am an idiot.

Did you go back and ask why?

Sorry to bump but is there anyway to get the ACTUAL colour?

If as you say youl are to respray the van completely what does it matter if two samples are not rxactly the same? Whatever paint you decide to use just make a note of it, or, buy too much and keep some aside for a touch up job tht may be needed later.

Problem is, I'm not doing it - the van is having some welding done at the same time, see. So the shade depends on his supplier too.

And there is quite a difference between the ones I have - one is nice, the other not so much. And because these two are apparently the same colour, I'm not convinced that either of them actually are genuine Panama Brown.

There lies the rub.
