speedo

Post by donnieg »

Hi when i am driving my van the speedo needle keeps jumping up and down but it steadys its self when i reach 50 or above. What can i do to stop this as when i am traveling in town it jumps so much that i don't know my proper speed. I wouldn't mind if it was only by a couple of mph but it goes from 0 to approx 40 all the time.

It's probably the square slot in the grease cup on the left front wheel wearing round, or the circlip has fallen off.

could be the above. or could be a kink in the cable causing the inner wire to revolve with actually revolvng the pin in the back of the speedo clock, thereby only just catcing as it turns.
