Always surprised

I finished work at 3 this afternoon so I thought I'd go for a play on the cross country circuit at work and do a few lanes. I invited a mate with a landy 90 and a discovery just for a giggle and if I get stuck they can pull me out.

Anyway with the rain the x country circuit was sticky horrible and deep with mud. Thinking I'll probably need more help than them I went in the middle. We come up to this wallow the 90 got stick all diffs in low range he couldn't get out my westy with non working diffs crawled through nice and steady. The disco followed.

A few lairy moments with a knife edge and me bottoming out but nothing the syncro couldn't handle.

Anyway I always thought a landy would be better in the nasty stuff so did he, I proved how much better a syncro is after we had a cuppa and a bacon sarnie after.

That's what me and my van did today.

I've just got to know more, I love the story but cant help wondering why?

You've said the 90 had all diff locks on which I assume means central and both axles but couldnt make it through the mud, yet a vehicle with no difflocks did. Is there more to the story that im missing? was the 90 running road tyres compared to muds on the VW, did you take the same line or something else?

If you had said the syncro with difflocks did and the 90 without lockers didnt then that would stack up.

Maybe i'm over thinking this, perhaps out humble little wagons really are that fabulous.

The 90 decided to slow half way through the mud, losing momentum. I did take a different line to him to. He only had the transfer box diff not individual axle lockers.

He is running AT grabbers which were slightly worn compared to me and the disco on BFG's. I would never have believed it of I hadn't seen it.

Although there are slightly different variables in technique/tyres and the like it hasn't stopped the endless pi$$ taking.

Well I went out for a 'quiet and quick' few lanes with mrs, two kids and the sister in law on Wednesday also. The top couple of inches around our way were very slippery too that day. Long story short, I got wedged between a couple of trees due to the slightest of cambers allowing the very light a*** end of the doka to just keep slipping down the adjacent verge. We got about 10 metres and the whole things ended up sideways down the verge. I had to call two of my mates with winches to get me out. Thats what the Doka and I did on wednesday
