Help Gear linkage please anyone :(
anyone got any tips on reseting the gear linkage on 1980 air cool 4 sp box, cant actually see what holds the rear shift rod bracket to the gear selection lever the one with the 2 plastic ball type things attached to the gear box i can see how it slides in but what holds it in place???

I am looking at the Haynes and (if I understand you correctly) the rear shift rod has a hole in it and what Haynes calls a 'spring pin' secures it to the selector lever. The selector lever is the vertical one attached to the horizontal shaft in the gearbox.
Probably what we use to call a 'roll pin' (Split tubular steel pin.)
Must stress I am working only from a very small drawing. Have never done any thing to mine (yet).
